The Platform

Worker First Economy

I support:

  • Increasing the minimum wage to a livable wage based on inflation levels and worker productivity
  • Implementing a full employment strategy by expanding manufacturing, social programs, public infrastructure, and public ownership of key resources.
  • Extending all employment standards to “gig work”
  • Establishing state-wide universally accessible and quality public childcare as well as 24-hour childcare for parents who work shift schedules
  • The right of the working class to unionize is a human right

Housing

I believe:

  • Housing is a human right
  • In creating a housing program which treats housing as a public utility, delivering it according to need
  • Enacting rent control covering all rental units, capping rent at 20% of household income

Education

I believe:

  • Everyone has the right to an equitable and comprehensive education
  • In implementing free access to trade schools
  • Good teachers are an invaluable resource and their compensation should reflect the vital service they provide

Tax Reform

I support:

  • Abolishing sales tax
  • Eliminating taxes on personal incomes under $40,000
  • Ending market-based property tax assessments and remove education from the property tax

Justice for Indigenous Peoples

 I support:

  • Recognizing Indigenous self-government and self-determination
  • Ending corporate, private, or public development on lands with Indigenous claims
  • The immediate cleanup of poisoned Indigenous land and water and compensations to those affected

Criminal Justice

I believe:

  • The criminal justice system is rooted in a history of racism and that racial equity must be at the center of reforms
  • No one should profit from the imprisonment of people
  • The criminal system is not the place to handle drug addiction and mental health issues
  • A person’s wealth or race should not determine how the law is applied
  • Education, youth programs, health care, increased social services, rehabilitation, and living wage jobs will reduce crime

I support:

  • Access for incarcerated individuals to communicate with their families at no cost to them or their families. This includes by phone, video, email, etc.
  • Ending the war on drugs by prioritizing treatment over incarceration
  • Ending the opioid crisis by decriminalizing drug use, expanding safe consumption and supply programs and humane treatment, rehabilitation and public education programs
  • Fines based on a percentage of violators income

Human rights

I believe:

  • Human rights apply to all people, regardless of immigration status, and include access to safe food, air, water, and shelter
  • Each person has the right to sovereignty over their own body
  • People’s lives are more important than our economy
  • Free and open voting is a civil right
  • The right to practice one’s religion does not include a right to impose one’s religious doctrines on others

I support:

  • Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, Freedom of the Press, Freedom to Assemble, and the right to Petition the Government for Change
  • The right to marry, as a legal union of consenting adults, without regard to sexual orientation or gender identity must be preserved
  • The enforcement and penalization for hate crimes and bans on hate groups
  • Working to end all forms of violence against women and the LGBTQ community and providing funding for social and economic programs
